Who are we?

We are a group of citizens working, through education and advocacy, to maintain and increase the health, integrity and area of Guelph’s urban forest. We believe that the ecological and social benefits that trees provide offer immense value to everyone, whether the trees are on public or private property.

We care deeply about the urban forest ecosystem in Guelph and want to contribute to its protection and growth. To this end we:

  • Respond to tree-related concerns expressed by citizens, investigating and offering advice on how to proceed.
  • Organize or participate in public education activities related to trees and the urban forest.
  • Advocate for bylaws and policies to further protect the urban forest in Guelph.
  • Offer two annual awards that honour Notable Trees in Guelph and Tree Stewards who follow in the footsteps of Henry Kock.
  • Support local groups that promote our urban forest by coordinating the Guelph Urban Forest Stewardship initiative.
  • Meet quarterly to plan our activities.

Steering Committee

We are a dedicated group of individuals that care deeply and passionately about trees. We meet bi-monthly to discuss ways to enhance Guelph’s urban forest and connect with municipal staff and citizens to achieve our goals.
